Maddy's Success Story

When Maddy was only 12 hours old, she was flown to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to undergo the first of several surgeries to treat spina bifida, a congenital condition that affects the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. Thanks to a multidisciplinary team approach, Maddy received coordinated care by an array of subspecialists.  Read this story.

Mitchell's Success Story

Born at twenty two weeks old, Mitchell and his twin brother had the odds stacked against them to survive. When Mitchell was four years old, a severe case of kidney stones was discovered almost by accident at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital. He had come in for a severe case of bronchitis and his condition was discovered. He spent about two and a half months at Nicklaus Children's Hospital under the care of the best nurses, doctors, and staff. Hannah was born with a condition known as bladder exstrophy—her bladder was outside of her body and turned inside out.
