The Prenatal Cardiac Program at Miami Childrens Hospital is designed to address the needs of families whose infants are diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease by fetal echocardiography (ultrasound of infant before birth).
Early diagnosis by fetal echocardiography facilitates the coordination of infant and family needs at the time of delivery and beyond.
The program provides information regarding heart defects in babies and support to families by offering written literature and unit tours.
The family can also meet key members of the Cardiovascular Team. Family resources will also be provided.
The Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioners coordinate the services specific to the needs of each family.
