Andrew Sy, MD
Attending Physician, Pediatric Advanced Care Team
Dr. Andrew Sy is an attending physician with the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. Dr. Sy completed a residency in pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in California. Following residency, he pursued fellowships in pediatric hematology/oncology at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, California and in palliative care medicine at Northwestern University/Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. His clinical interests include utilizing telemedicine as a method to provide quality hospice and palliative care, improving communication with the adolescent and young adult (AYA) population with serious illnesses and exploring pathways to better support families dealing with grief and loss.
Dr. Sy is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ASPHO). He has published his work in peer-reviewed journals and presented at medical conferences.
Dr. Sy is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital specializes in providing comfort and support to children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families. The team’s goal is to work with the family and care providers to enhance quality of life by providing the child relief from symptoms of serious illness, while also promoting stress reduction for the entire family.
