Jordan's Success Story

“My son was Jordan born with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), which means he had a hole his heart that caused more blood to pump to his left lung than to his right. During the first three months of his life, his breathing was very labored, he barely ate and was taking several medications.

When he was three months old and only 10 pounds he underwent open-heart surgery to repair his heart. The result was unbelievable. After surgery, my son no longer needed breathing support. His surgeon, Dr. Robert Hannan, sent us home four days later. At his follow up appointment, Dr. Nancy Dobrolet, his cardiologist, told us he was healthy and going to be just fine. That was the best day of my life.

I went through so much as a young mother with a sick baby but I thank God every day for all the nurses, doctors and staff that took part of my son’s surgery and saved my son’s life. Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, is the best, no doubt!”
