Miami Children's Hospital Announces 2 New Board Members, a New Vice Chairman, and a Re-election for Board Secretary
MIAMI, FL - Manuel Kadre will join the Miami Children's Hospital Board of Directors. His four-year term begins in January 2005.
Mr. Kadre is the Vice President and General Counsel of the de la Cruz Companies (Eagle Brands., Coca-Cola Puerto Rico Bottlers, Caribbean Bottlers Trinidad & Tobago and Coca-Cola St. Maarten). As a result of the de la Cruz Companies’ automotive mergers, he also serves as Vice President of Government Affairs and District Counsel for AutoNation, Inc.
Mr. Kadre received his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of Fordham Law Journal.
Israel Alfonso, MD, Director of Neonatal Neurology at Miami Children's Hospital, will join the Miami Children's Hospital Board of Directors. His four-year term began in January 2005.
Dr. Alfonso is a graduate of the University of Zaragoza, Spain. He received his pediatric training at Miami Children's Hospital and completed his neurology residency at the University of Miami. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. Dr. Alfonso has published and lectured extensively in the field of neonatal neurology.
In other board news, Gary Gregory was appointed Vice Chair of the hospital board. Mr. Gregory has been a member of Miami Children's Hospital Board of Directors from 1989 through 1993 and then started a new term in 1998. Throughout the years he has served in various capacities, including Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr. Gregory also serves as Chairman of the Board for Summit Global Partners of Florida.
Deise C. Granado-Villar, MD, MPH, FAAP, Director of the Division Preventive Medicine and Ambulatory Services at Miami Children's Hospital was
re-elected Board Secretary for a third term. Dr. Granado-Villar has been a member of Miami Children's Hospital Board of Directors since 1999. She is a Board Certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Dr. Granado-Villar serves in the Executive Committee of Community Pediatrics of the AAP, and is the current Chair of the Nominating Committee. Dr. Granado-Villar is one of ten appointed members of the World Health Organization.
