Does your child have difficulty hearing?  Do you have to call your child's name a few times before he/she answers?  Does your child tell you that they hear as if they are under water?   Is your child turning the TV on too loud?  Some children have undiagnosed hearing loss that may affect their daily lives as they communicate with others.  Join us to learn about the different parts of the hearing system, how hearing works and what tests audiologists perform in order to understand how your child is hearing.   Learn what you can do to help and protect your child's hearing.

The class will be presented by Sandra Yampolosky, Au.D. and Regina R. Escano, Au.D. practicing Audiologists at Miami Children's Hospital.  Their area of specialty is diagnostic audiology with the pediatric population.

This course is designed for childcare and foster care workers, teachers, camp counselors and coaches.  Parents with young children and adolescents are also highly encouraged to attend.  This course will give you the education and confidence you need to effectively care for children in an emergency until professional help arrives.  Topics include:  first aid basics, medical emergencies and CPR with Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Participants will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and Pediatric First Aid Course Completion Card.   Please call 305-662-8282 to register.

The New Normal: An Introduction to Diabetes Management

This group is for children ages 5-16 years old with a new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus.   The program will provide children and teens education for better management of diabetes in a fun, interative group environment. Calm Kids

Join us for group therapy to learn strategies for taking control over your anxiety symptoms.  Cope with fears and worries, identify anxiety triggers, learn to relax your mind and body to maximize your self-confidence. Children would be expected to attend a 60 minute intake session with an experienced therapist.  Lessons are provided for parents to support their children's emotions.   Groups will meet once a week for six weeks.  Please call 305-669-6503 for more information.   Insurance is accepted.

F.O.C.U.S. Program

Understand the meaning and trreatment of ADHD.  This group will assist with managing feelings, developing organizationsal skills, maximizing concentration abilities, understanding the meaning and treatment of ADHD and how to socialize well with others.  Parents will be provided with lessons on how to manage their chidlren's behavior.  The group will meet one a week for six weeks.  Please call 305-669-6503 to schedule an intake session.  Insurance is accepted.

Diabetes Teen Support Group

Our diabetes teen support group is open to those with type 1 diabetes ages 13 to 17.  Topics of discussion will include the latest in diabetes research to the latest in insulin pump therapy and suggestions from the group.  Our primary goal is to network and assist others with this condition as well as educate the community on type 1 diabetes.  There is no cost to attend.  Registration is required.  Please call Angelica Donado at 786-624-4527 or e-mail for  further information.

These weekly group sessions are for children ages 5 to 16.   This seven week program assists children with difficulties making friends, initiating conversation and play with other children and expressing emotions.   The group will provide an opportunity to interact with peers, offer techniques and strategies to foster social development and provide parents suggestions to use at home to support their children's social skills.
