Sensory Processing Disorder in Children 09/15/2014

Do your child cover his ears with loud noises, Is your child a picky eater?  Does your child dislike getting messy?  Is he/she sensitve to movement?  Some children have difficulty processing sensory information which can affect their daily activities.  Join us to learn about Sensory Processing Disorder to better understand your child's behaviors and help them succeed.  

This interactive presentation is led by Meredith Adams, MOT/OTR/L a practicing occupational therapist at Miami Children's Hospital.Miami Children's Hospital. Meredith has a masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southesastern University and attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate studies.   She is a clinical specialist treating a wide variety of children with disablitities in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Cost:  $50 per person for the four week series

Infant massage is designed for children ages 0-12 months.  Our hands-on method insures that you will learn the art of interactive massage to suit your baby's individual needs and developmental level.  Infant massage encourages relaxation for both parent and baby, promotes longer and deeper sleeping patterns and can relieve colic symptoms among other benefits.   Please call 305-662-8282 or e-mail for further information.

Understand the meaning and trreatment of ADHD.  This group will assist with managing feelings, developing organizationsal skills, maximizing concentration abilities, understanding the meaning and treatment of ADHD and how to socialize well with others.  Parents will be provided with lessons on how to manage their chidlren's behavior.  The group will meet one a week for six weeks.  Please call 305-669-6503 to schedule an intake session.  Insurance is accepted.

This group is designed for parents and caregivers of children under the age of 10.   The group will provide participants the opportunity to interact with other parents who are facing similar issues.  The class will offer techniques and strategies that will increase child cooperation and compliance as well as help develop and nourish a postive parent-child relationship.  Cost is $125 per family. The New Normal: An Introduction to Diabetes Management

This group is for children ages 5-16 years old with a new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus.   The program will provide children and teens education for better management of diabetes in a fun, interative group environment. Iron Fingertips: A Group for Teens Struggling with Type 1 Diabetes Care

Calm Kids

Join us for group therapy to learn strategies for taking control over your anxiety symptoms.  Cope with fears and worries, identify anxiety triggers, learn to relax your mind and body to maximize your self-confidence. Children would be expected to attend a 60 minute intake session with an experienced therapist.  Lessons are provided for parents to support their children's emotions.   Groups will meet once a week for six weeks.  Please call 305-669-6503 for more information.   Insurance is accepted.

Diabetes Support Group

Our diabetes teen support group is open to those with type 1 diabetes ages 13 to 17.  Topics of discussion will include the latest in diabetes research to the latest in insulin pump therapy and suggestions from the group.  Our primary goal is to network and assist others with this condition as well as educate the community on type 1 diabetes.  There is no cost to attend.  Registration is required.  Please call Awidla valdes at 786-624-4571 or e-mail for further information.

These weekly group sessions are for children ages 5 to 16.   This seven week program assists children with difficulties making friends, initiating conversation and play with other children and expressing emotions.   The group will provide an opportunity to interact with peers, offer techniques and strategies to foster social development and provide parents suggestions to use at home to support their children's social skills.
