Meet Anya, Lily and Kian: First set of triplets delivered at Jupiter Medical Center, a Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Affiliate

Lana was speechless when she and her partner found out they were expecting triplets after a successful IVF fertility treatment. The couple experienced many emotions, including excitement about growing their family, and concern about whether there would be any health risks associated with carrying the triplets to full term. At 32 weeks, Lana delivered the triplets at Jupiter Medical Center. Patient of the Month: Charlie

After surviving a high-risk pregnancy with a set of twins, the Strombom’s were faced with yet another complication. Their third child, an unborn baby named Charlie, was diagnosed with a congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) and underwent two in utero interventions to allow for a full and healthy gestation period. Once delivered, the LifeFlight team from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital was on stand-by to transport Charlie from West Palm Beach to Miami. Read this story.

Logan's Journey with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

Logan Perry was born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a rare birth defect in which the diaphragm does not develop properly. Thanks to the experts at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Logan had corrective surgery and is developing into a rambunctious toddler.  Read this story.

Patient of the Month: Theodore

When she was just 18 weeks pregnant, Micheleen, learned that her baby would be born with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), in which the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped, as well as a cleft palate and cleft lip. Read this story.

Patient of the Month: Piero

Meet our August Patient of the Month, Piero. Born at just 27 weeks old, Piero had to be admitted into the NICU at the hospital where he was born and was intubated to allow his lungs to continue developing. Read this story.

Patient of the Month: Lukas

As a newborn, Lukas was in cardiac arrest and brought to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, where he underwent open heart surgery and placed on a Cardiopulmonary Bypass Machine, which stabilized his condition. Read this story.

Patient of the Month: Emily

Emily was born with Pierre-Robin sequence, a condition present at birth which tends to cause a small jaw, a tongue that is displaced back towards the throat and a cleft palate. She was brought her to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where she underwent surgery to repair her cleft palate, and since then her life has completely turned around. Read this story.

Maddy's Success Story

When Maddy was only 12 hours old, she was flown to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to undergo the first of several surgeries to treat spina bifida, a congenital condition that affects the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. Thanks to a multidisciplinary team approach, Maddy received coordinated care by an array of subspecialists.  Read this story.

Leondre's Success Story

Leondre was born at just 24 weeks old weighting only 1lb, 9oz. A week after his birth, he was flown to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, to receive advanced care in the hospital’s Level 1 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Read this story.

Robert's Success Story

Robert was born in respiratory distress. Nicklaus Children's Hospital sent a mobile unit to pick him up to transport him back to their brand new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He is now an extremely successful computer engineer with two beautiful boys of his own. Read this story.

Within ten hours of being born, Sebastian was diagnosed with tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF). The day after he was born, he was flown to Nicklaus Children's Hospital where he had an operation to repair his esophagus. Read this story.

Eric's Success Story

Eric's mother was diagnosed with placenta previa and carefully carried him for just less than eight months. His world was great until he went into shock at three weeks old and was then rushed to Nicklaus Children's Hospital and his parents were told that the doctors were “not sure if what he had was compatible with life or not.” Read this story.

An emergency cesarean was performed before Jennifer was born at 23 weeks and weighed only 14 ounces. She is now a small but an active 2-year-old.
