Research
While Miami Childrens Hospital is devoted to healing young patients, it is also working to make the future brighter for children with medical problems. Through innovative projects, a diversified team of specialists at Miami Childrens Hospital Research Institute conduct research aimed to develop better means of preventing, treating and curing childhood diseases. The research programs at MCH include the Pediatric Nutrition Research Laboratory, the Pediatric Nephrology and Genetics Laboratory, the Neurosciences Research Division, and the Critical Care Research Laboratory. As a member of the Childrens Cancer Group, Miami Childrens Hospital researchers collaborate with 100 other U.S. pediatric institutions, making it possible for patients to benefit from faster access to the latest treatments. The opening of the greatly expanded Miami Childrens Hospital Research Institute in 1990 provided new facilities for research in a growing number of fields including endocrinology, pediatric pharmacology and immunology. In addition to providing patients quicker access to the newest developments, the program also enhances patient care by attracting talented physicians to the hospital staff.
