Miami Children's Hospital (MCH) and the newly renamed Congenital Heart Institute at MCH have entered into a collaborative partnership with Orlando Regional Healthcare d/b/a Arnold Palmer Hospital (APH) for Children & Women to provide a comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiac program to children throughout Florida. This has been created through one program offered in two locations.
The Congenital Heart Institute is providing inpatient services, including cardiac surgery, interventional catheterizations, electrophysiology and cardiac diagnostics. In addition, the outpatient clinic at APH provides prenatal cardiology services.
The team at the Congenital Heart Institute at Miami Children's continues to offer comprehensive services at MCH for children from throughout the region as well as from Central and South America, and Europe. Surgical volume for 2003 is conservatively expected to be up by 40 percent and catheterization volume has increased by at least 24 percent. The team continues to demonstrate internationally recognized leadership and innovation, and boasts a survival rate of more than 98 percent- one of the best in the world.
"We applaud our multidisciplinary Congenital Heart Institute team, including Dr. Redmond P. Burke, Director of Cardiovascular Services; and Dr. Evan Zahn, Director of Cardiology for their leadership in providing care excellence and convenience to families from the northern and central portions of our state. Miami Children's is proud to extend its clinical leadership within the Florida community to benefit the children and families of this dynamic state," said Thomas M. Rozek, President and CEO.
