  • Only pediatric hospital in the state of Florida to be granted accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of the Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) - 2007
  • Nation's first successful implantation of the Helex septal occluder (a non-invasive closure device for atrial septal defects, now FDA approved) – 2002
  • World's first single ventricle operation on Conjoined Twins - 2004

The CHI’s goal is to reach an unprecedented 100% survival rate in the treatment of children with congenital heart disease through the continued advancement of surgical and interventional catheterization skills, procedures and tools.  These new advancements will not only minimize the significant cumulative therapeutic trauma these children undergo during the course of their lifetimes while undergoing the treatment for their respective conditions, but also improve the quality of life for these children and their families.
