The Community and Volunteer Resources Department at Miami Children's Hospital orients, interviews, trains and places all qualified people who want to volunteer. We enthusiastically welcome individuals of all backgrounds and abilities. Applicants must be at least 14 years old and, in most cases, at least 16 years old to work directly with the young patients. Applicants must have good general health, be able to communicate well in English (knowledge of a second language is a plus!), and be willing to purchase a volunteer uniform.
In order to be considered for volunteer service you will be required to complete the following:
- Complete the application form
- Pass a criminal background investigation
- Attend a mandatory 2-hour orientation session
- Have a personal interview with a volunteer coordinator after attending the orientation session
- Receive a health clearance from our Employee Health Department which requires a tuberculosis (TB) skin test and a blood test to determine immunity to measles and chicken pox.
TEENS must print, complete and submit applications to the Community and Volunteer Resources Department.
ADULT & COLLEGE STUDENTS can fill out the application and email back to grace.copeland@mch.com or lynn.heyman@mch.com.
Or, if you prefer, you can download and print the appropriate application, fill it out and return it to:
