Beatriz Cunill-De Sautu, MD, FAAP
Pediatric Residency Program Director
Dr. Beatriz Cunill-De Sautu earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Cunill completed her three year pediatric residency training followed by an additional year as Chief Resident at Miami Children’s Hospital.
Upon completion of her Chief Resident term, Dr. Cunill continued her pursuit of academic pediatrics by joining the Department of Medical Education at Miami Children’s Hospital and assisting in the administration of the pediatric residency program. Her responsibilities included coordinating the education and training of pediatric residents at the community-based continuity clinic sites, leading the organization of the faculty development opportunities for the teaching staff and participating in various performance improvement and child advocacy projects. Dr. Cunill also serves as an attending physician and preceptor at the MCH Pediatric Care Center. Prior to being named Program Director, Dr. Cunill-De Sautu served as the Interim Director of Medical Education at Miami Children’s Hospital and led the Pediatric Residency Program through a successful ACGME survey.
Dr. Cunill-De Sautu holds faculty appointments at Florida International University (Clinical Assistant Professor), NOVA Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (Clinical Assistant Professor), and at the St. George’s University School of Medicine (Professor). She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Cunill-De Sautu was recently appointed by the NBME to the USMLE Step 3 Ambulatory Care Test Material Development Committee.
Mark Gabay, DO, FAAP
Pediatric Residency Program Associate Director

Dr. Mark Gabay earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University – College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a three year pediatric residency and a subsequent one year chief residency at Miami Children’s Hospital.
After completion of Dr. Gabay’s residency training, he remained with Miami Children’s Hospital working as an attending physician within the Emergency / Urgent Care Department. Soon thereafter, he joined Nova Southeastern University as clinical assistant professor. He currently holds the titles of Program Director for the Osteopathic Pediatric Residency Program and Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program. His responsibilities include developing, organizing and enhancing the pediatric academic and clinical experience, fostering personal and professional growth of all residents, and ensuring the programs’ successful longevity and accreditation by maintaining program compliance. Dr. Gabay is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. He is currently a NBOME committee member for Comlex-USA Level 2-CE, and serves as a council member on the Physician Workforce Advisory Council for the State of Florida Department of Health.
