Best Children's Hospitals
Our program is nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best pediatric cancer programs.

Miami Children’s Hospital offers a comprehensive program for care and management of children with sickle cell disease and other related blood disorders, including thalessemias and aplastic anemia.

The program, made possible through the hospital’s Cancer Center/Division of Hematology/Oncology, offers diagnosis and comprehensive management and care. The team includes pediatric hematologists, geneticists, neurologists, nurse specialists, social workers and more, who work collaboratively to oversee the child’s plan of care.

The program offers child and family focused care for children on an outpatient basis as well as comprehensive inpatient care when needed in a hospital that truly understands the needs of chronically ill children and their families.

For children with sickle cell  disease disorder, thalessemia or aplastic anemia who are appropriate candidates, bone marrow transplant can bring about a cure for these diseases. Miami Children’s Hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program, founded in 1991, has performed more than 180 transplants and is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).
