The Pediatric Critical Care Transport Specialist

Miami Children’s Hospital’s LifeFlight® program safely transports over 2,100 infants and children per year to Miami Children’s Hospital. Our patients come from local clinics and hospitals, as well as from referring centers throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and South and Central America. Service is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through a fleet of six ambulances, a hospital-owned helicopter and on-demand fixed-wing jets. These efforts are coordinated through a dedicated Communication Center staffed by skilled communication specialists.

Ground Ambulance for Miami Children's Hospital - LifeFlight

Ground Ambulances:

Miami Children’s became one of the first U.S. hospitals to acquire state-of-the-art ground ambulances capable of transporting up to three patients simultaneously. Previously, ambulances could transport no more than two patients at a time.

Helicopter:

LifeFlight’s® Sikorsky S76 C+ helicopter is medically equipped to care for the needs of pediatric patients. The aircraft is one of the most sophisticated air ambulances available with an unsurpassed flight stability and safety record. The medical cabin allows easy installation and removal of a transport stretcher or isolette. Once patients are aboard, the medical flight crew can work from swivel seats with full and unobLifeflight Helicopterstructed access to patients from any angle, a benefit that is not available from any other aircraft.

The medical configuration of the aircraft includes built-in oxygen and air, lighting controls, intravenous fluid holders and pilot-to-medical team-to-hospital communications. LifeFlight carries some of the most advanced life-support systems such as neonatal and pediatric ventilators, a defibrillator, intubation equipment, cardio-respiratory and hemodynamic monitors, infusion devices, trans-cutaneous PaO2 monitors, emergency medications, transport incubators and any other equipment necessary for air management, IV therapy and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
