Internships
The Child Life Internship Program at Miami Children's Hospital provides students a variety of opportunities for experience such as: providing education to patients and families regarding their hospitalization, helps to reduce the stress and anxieties that accompany hospitalization, supervising patients in the Playroom, providing activities for patients at the bedside, planning and implementing recreational, therapeutic and educational activities for patients, attending patient rounds and supervising volunteers.
To be considered for a Child Life Internship, students must be pursuing a bachelor's degree and have senior level status (at the time of the internship). Suggested majors for Internship candidates are: Child Life, Child Development, Family and Human Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Recreation Therapy and Psychology. The internships last a minimum of fourteen weeks, 40 hours per week, for a total of 560 hours. Selection of interns is based on academics, previous experience working with children, references, and an interview.

Practicum Program
The Child Life Practicum Program at Miami Children's Hospital provides students a variety of opportunities for an observation experience under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
To be considered for a Child Life Practicum, students must be pursuing a bachelor's degree and have Junior level status (at the time of the practicum). Suggested majors for Practicum candidates are: Child Life, Child Development, Family and Human Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Recreation Therapy and Psychology. The practicum lasts a minimum of sixteen weeks, eight hours per week, for a total of 128 hours.
Selection of practicum students is based on academics, previous experience working with children, references, and an interview.
