Our program is also nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best pediatric neurology and neurosurgery programs.
For Information about Neurological Diseases and Disorders this is a place to start. It will point you in the right direction whether the child you care for has been newly diagnosed, you are seeking a second professional opinion, or you are collecting facts about a child's disease process or treatment. The quest for a cure and information is not a straight path. You may require different resources at different times. You will probably find more references than you are able to research today, so bookmark this page so that you can easily come back...and start again.
A WORD OF CAUTION: Although we have reviewed each of the web sites we have selected to link, the contents of these sites are subject to change and therefore the accuracy cannot be assured. We will add or drop sites as information, and the sites, change. Please use the information obtained at this site as a tool to better understand your child's particular case. ALWAYS consult a medical specialist in the field of Pediatric
Neurosurgery for diagnostic and therapeutic decisions regarding your child.
Neurological Diseases & Disorders
Background
In 1997 when the Internet was first becoming useful as a source of medical information, John Ragheb, Andrew Jea and Ann McNeil worked together to build a website called The Starting Point. It provided reliable links to medical information for parents. It’s been a few years now and a few things have changed: John Ragheb is now Director of Neurosurgery, Andrew Jea is a pediatric neurosurgeon in Houston, Ann McNeil is a neurosurgery nurse at MCH, and the internet is no longer dial-up. Most people routinely use the internet to connect with each other and to look for information. We encourage them to do so, but to be cautious, and bring questions along to their consults here.
The Starting Point Website has expanded, as has the program here. We are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best pediatric neurology and neurosurgery programs. The Division of Neurosurgery at Miami Children's Hospital is the largest pediatric neurosurgical service in the State of Florida and one of the most recognized programs in the United States.
