Alejandro Diaz, MD
Pediatric Endocrinology

Dr. Diaz graduated from La Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia and was trained in general pediatrics at Miami Children’s Hospital. He completed his specialization in pediatric endocrinology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Diaz’s special interests are in the care of children with short stature, thyroid disorders, disorders of puberty, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and obesity.. He has been involved in clinical research of patients with growth failure and small birth weight (e.g. Bloom’s syndrome) and in childhood obesity. His laboratory research experience involves the evaluation of intracellular signaling of growth hormone and insulin in cells of people with intrauterine growth retardation-related disorders.

Dr. Diaz is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology and speaks English and Spanish.

Ana Margarita Duarte, MD

Ana Margarita Duarte, MD

Ana M Duarte, MD, completed medical school in 1988 at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She continued her training completing two residencies Pediatrics in 1991, and Dermatology in 1995. She also completed a 1 year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology in 1992. All of her training taking place at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was boarded by the American Board of Medical Subspecialties in Pediatrics and remains boarded in Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology. She is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.

In 1995 she was appointed the Director of Dermatology at Miami Children’s Hospital and founded the Children’s Skin Center, PA located on the campus of Miami Children’s Hospital. She is Associate Professor for Nova Southeastern University Department of Dermatology as well as Voluntary Faculty at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology.

Her main area of interest is in the treatment of vascular lesions and in 1995 she developed the Laser Center at Miami Children’s Hospital, a center focusing on the laser treatment of vascular lesions. In 2009 she developed and was appointed Director of The International Birthmark Institute (TIBI) at Miami Children’s Hospital: a multidisciplinary team of sub-specialists dedicated to the treatment of all birthmarks with a special focus on vascular anomalies.

Mark A. Epstein, MD
Medical Director of the MCH Dan Marino Center

Dr. Mark Epstein is the Medical Director of the MCH Dan Marino Center, the region’s only comprehensive center for children with neuro-developmental disorders.Dr. Epstein graduated from Harvard University and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York.  He completed his pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital at Yale University and a neurology residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Epstein is board certified in pediatrics and neurology with special qualification in child neurology.  He has published and presented extensively on a variety of topics.  His special interests include video EEG monitoring and epilepsy, ADD/ADHD, sleep disorders and neuro-developmental disorders.  Dr. Epstein is Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Vivian Pilar Hernandez-Trujillo, MD
Division of Allergy & Immunology

Dr. Vivian Pilar Hernandez-Trujillo received her medical degree from Albany Medical College, New York and completed the three-year medical pediatric residency program at Miami Children’s Hospital. She graduated from the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Training Program at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center. Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is a board certified physician from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her dedication, academic achievement, and accomplishments.

The doctor is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Clinical Immunology Society, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo has conducted basic laboratory research, made presentations and published numerous articles on the topics of Immunology, Allergy and Allergens and Preventive Medicine both nationally and internationally. Her interest and focus on prevention has resulted in extensive community service and the development of asthma health fairs.

Alisa Muniz Crim, MD

Dr. Muñiz Crim received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She completed her pediatric residency at Tufts Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

She also completed a master’s degree in clinical research at the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts University in Boston, and served as an assistant professor in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Muñiz Crim has a special interest in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, failure to thrive, and celiac disease.

Dr. Muñiz Crim is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in pediatric gastroenterology.

Chad Perlyn, MD, Ph.D.
Plastic Surgery
Dr. Chad Perlyn is an attending plastic surgeon at Miami Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Florida International University College of Medicine.

After receiving his undergraduate degree in English literature from Northwestern University, Dr. Perlyn attended medical school at the University of Miami where he graduated with honors. He then completed his general surgery and plastic surgery at Washington University/Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis, one of the country’s oldest and most established plastic surgery training programs. During his residency, Dr. Perlyn was the recipient of an American College of Surgeons Fellowship, allowing him to spend three years at the University of Oxford in England completing a doctorate degree in craniofacial molecular biology. While at Oxford, Dr. Perlyn studied why children are born with particular facial birth defects, and as a result of his efforts, he received several national and international awards. He has published numerous scientific papers and articles and lectured in several countries. Following the completion of his plastic surgery training, Dr. Perlyn went on to study craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery as a fellow under the tutelage of Dr. Jeffrey Marsh.

Aparna Rajadhyaksha, MD

Aparna Rajadhyaksha, MD
Clinical Genetics & Metabolism

Dr. Rajadhyaksha received her medical degree from the University of Mumbai D.Y. Patil Medical College in India. She completed a residency in clinical pathology at Tufts University at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA, and a residency in medical genetics at the University of Miami. Dr. Rajadhyaksha served most recently as Director of Molecular and Cytogenetics at Vitro Molecular Laboratory in Miami. She is board certified in clinical pathology and medical genetics. Her special interests include cancer genetics and metabolic disorders.

Felix Ramirez-Seijas, MD
Director of Pediatric Nephrology

Dr. Ramirez-Seijas is the Director of Pediatric Nephrology at Miami Children's Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. He completed a pediatric residency at the Driscoll Foundation Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas and a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Ramirez-Seijas has lectured nationally and internationally and has published numerous articles on renal diseases and treatment. He has also performed extensive research on systemic lupus erythematosus and congenital anomalies of the urinary tract. Dr. Ramirez-Seijas is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology and is bi-lingual, speaking Spanish and English.
