Prior to joining Miami Children’s Hospital, Dr. Shufflebarger was professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, where he also completed his residency. Dr. Shufflebarger is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the North American Spine Society. He is president of the Scoliosis Research Society. In addition to publishing over fifty scientific articles, Dr. Shufflebarger has authored over fifteen chapters dealing with various aspects of spinal deformity or degenerative process, and chaired over one hundred scientific courses and symposia around the world.
