Dr. Rey completed his doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Houston, Houston, Texas. He completed an internship at the Department of Neurology of Baylor College of Medicine and a Post-doctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Neurology. He is a member of the executive committee of the US-Venezuela Collaborative Huntington’s Disease Project and holds academic appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurology and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami. Dr. Rey is a life-span Neuropsychologist with expertise in the areas of epilepsy, aphasia, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, neuro-oncology, and neuro-developmental disorders. Dr. Rey has published extensively in the above areas of interest as well as in the area of cross-cultural assessment and test development with Hispanic groups in the US.
Within the MCH Brain Institute, Dr. Rey examines the pre- and post-surgical neuropsychological status of all patients undergoing resective epilepsy surgery and/or neurosurgical procedures for the treatment of brain tumors. He collaborates in scientific endeavors with all other disciplines within the Institute focusing on the neuro-behavioral disorders of these patient groups.
Dr. Rey is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
