The Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, Food and Nutrition Department provides meals, special formulas, and clinical nutrition services to inpatients. The meals prepared and served by the department meet the nutritional requirements of the patients based on the medical and cultural needs and at the same time are appealing to their taste. In addition, the department offers outpatient follow-ups by referral of the medical staff.
Clinical nutrition services include calorie counts, nutrition counseling, instructions on formula preparation, and daily screenings to determine which patients are at nutritional risk. The clinical dietitian works directly with patients and families to develop nutrition plans.
We offer a broad range of food services to meet your every need during your stay at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital. You can choose from our extensive room service menu, various café or vending machines that are located through out the facility. Clinical Nutrition Services
Every patient at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, both inpatient and outpatient, has access to a highly specialized dietitian to address his or her individual needs. All of Nicklaus Children's Dietitians are registered with the American Dietetics Association (ADA), having completed education requirements from the ADA and are licensed in the state of Florida.
Outpatient Nutrition Services
Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, offers individualized outpatient assessments and counseling with referrals from your child’s pediatrician or specialty physician. Appointments are currently available on the main campus and Palmetto Bay Ambulatory Care Center. Common issues that patients are referred for include food allergies, picky eating, failure to thrive, weight management and diabetes.

A dietitian participates as part of the multidisciplinary team of health professionals that evaluates and manages children with craniofacial anomalies through this state-designated Craniofacial Center. Each child’s unique condition is taken into consideration and nutrition interventions are designed to help each child grow to their full potential.
Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, understands that your child’s birthday is a special day. If a patient happens to be admitted on their birthday, they will receive a free delicious birthday cake to celebrate this special moment with friends and family.
A mobile hospitality cart is available in the morning and evening for families that are unable to leave their child’s bedside to eat a meal. Our dedicated volunteers bring the cart to each unit, offering a variety of muffins, pastries, croissants, bagels, coffee, hot chocolate and teas.
The Cafeteria is a part of the Food Service Department at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital. The Food Service Department is committed to providing great food, great service and a pleasant place for patients, families, visitors and employees to enjoy a quality dining experience.
The main cafeteria offers innovative meals along with traditional favorites. Home made soups and made to order deli sandwiches are also available.
Don’t have time to sit and eat in our dining area? Don’t worry, we provide a grab-n-go selection for our customers. You can select from fresh salads, sandwiches and wraps that are made daily.

The cafés at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, features a deli style sandwich selection with many options including fresh fruits, pastries, cakes various juices, and coffee which are made fresh daily. We are proud to brew fresh Starbucks Coffee and offer the coffee of the day. We utilize locally bought fruits and vegetables when in season.
The Palm Garden Café is a made to order with daily specials. This café provides an outdoor dining area with a garden style scenic atmosphere. You can dine here weekdays during lunch hours.
