Prior to joining Miami Children’s Hospital, Mr. Martinez was the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer & Research Institute in Tampa, FL. Mr. Martinez has 25 years of experience in the field of Information Technology and has served in different leadership positions at community centers and hospitals throughout the country.
Mr. Martinez has helped develop national healthcare IT standards and has raised industry awareness of real business issues surrounding data collaboration within healthcare settings. In 2005, Governor Jeb Bush presented to Mr. Martinez, IT Florida’s “IT Leader of the Year” Award for the State of Florida. In 2012, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives awarded Mr. Martinez “Innovator of the Year” for his eHealth Initiative, and on April 11, 2013, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce presented Mr. Martinez with the “Technology Leaders of the Year Award” for the Telehealth Project at Miami Children’s Hospital.
