Dr. John W. Kuluz
Director of Traumatic Brain Injury and Neuro-Rehab


Dr. Kuluz is a nationally recognized expert in the care of children with brain injuries, having published extensively on the subject and served as a principal investigator for more than a dozen studies related to spinal cord injury, stroke and ischemic and traumatic brain injury. He received his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, completed his residency at the University of Florida School of Medicine/Shands Teaching Hospital and concluded a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Moffit-Long Hospital, University of California, San Francisco. While at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Medical Center he served as an associate professor of pediatrics, attending physician in the Pediatric ICU specializing in neurocritical care, Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Research Laboratory and Medical Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation. Dr. Kuluz also serves on the editorial board of the journal Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and is a founding member of the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Research Group.
 
 


Dr. John Ragheb
Director, Division of
Neurosurgery


Dr. Ragheb is a renowned neurosurgeon who leads the neurosurgical team at Miami Children’s Brain Institute, which is ranked among the top 10 programs in the nation for pediatric neurology and neurosurgery. Dr. Ragheb is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He was trained in neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the New York University Medical Center. Dr. Ragheb is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. A well-published author, Dr. Ragheb has written extensively on many subjects and is an authority in the neurosurgical management of pediatric neurotrauma. In addition, he has directed a national course, and lectured nationally and internationally on the management of brain and spinal cord injuries in children. His other areas of clinical interest include: hydrocephalus, brain tumors, spina bifida, tethered spinal cord, congenital anomalies of the central nervous system, neuroendoscopy, pediatric neuro-oncology, arteriovenous malformations, Chiari malformations, craniofacial anomalies and spasticity.

Dr. Ann Hyslop Segeren

Dr. Hyslop is an attending physician in pediatric neurology and epilepsy care at Miami Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hyslop earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, received training in pediatrics at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and then concluded a residency in adult and pediatric neurology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She completed a two-year fellowship in pediatric epilepsy at Miami Children’s Hospital and has joined the staff to help develop programs aimed at the prevention and management of brain injury due to seizures, infection, stroke, congenital heart disease and trauma.
