The Miami Children's
Hospital Department of Orthopaedics is Florida's largest and most
comprehensive provider of services for the care of musculo-skeletal
system problems in children. Orthopaedics was one of six initial
departments established when Miami Children's Hospital was founded
in 1950. In fact, an orthopaedic surgeon was responsible for creation
of the hospital.
Today, the Orthopaedics
Department staff includes six orthopaedic surgeons trained to meet
the special needs of children of all ages-from birth through adolescence.
With the assistance of a dedicated support staff, the surgeons perform
over 800 surgical procedures each year. The Department also manages
an additional 15,000 outpatient visits on an annual basis.
The support
staff is made up of trained professionals including orthopaedic
technicians, physician assistants, orthopaedic residents and fellows,
along with a large number of nurse coordinators, secretaries and
other office personnel. Many of our staff members are bilingual
and ready to assist patients and their families at all times.
