adult strabismus (deviation of the eyes) problems. The services
covered in the office include evaluation for vision problems (refractive
errors), as well as medical and surgical problems of infantile and
childhood strabismus, amblyopia, ptosis (droopiness of the lids),
lacrimal or tearing problems, infantile and developmental cataracts
and intraocular lens implantation, congenital malformations of the
lids and eyes, infantile and childhood glaucoma, ocular injuries,
ocular tumors, and other neuro-ophthalmic causes of visual loss.
In depth consultations are offered within the hospital setting for
infants with retinopathy of prematurity, multiple congenital defects,

Services
Services available
for patient care at the Miami Children's Hospital offices beyond
the consultative expertise offered by the staff include ultrasonography
of the eye, visual field testing in kinetic and static modalities,
fundus photography and external photography. In addition to the
two pediatric ophthalmologists, the staff consists of 13 trained
and experienced personnel who, like the doctors, are dedicated to
providing quality care in a setting that is supportive and considerate
of the special needs of infants and children. Special areas of care
include contact lens services for therapeutic as well as elective
needs. Such special lenses as those for infantile aphakia, anisometropia,
bifocal for therapeutic and presbyopic indications are available,
as well as a full range of lenses for myopic, astigmatic and hyperopic
refractive errors. Cosmetic lenses for color enhancement or color
changes are available. Training and care instructions are most important
and are provided on site at the Miami Children's Hospital offices.
The optical shop specializes in the latest styles and specific needs
for infants and children as well as youth. The optical shop also
carries a full line of adult vision needs to fill prescriptions.
