Radiotherapy is an integral part of a multidisciplinary cancer treatment program. Radiation therapy can be given alone as a cure. Radiation therapy services can also be combined with surgery or chemotherapy to enhance treatment.
The MCH Cancer Center
offers radiation treatment for cancer through the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center/ Jackson Memorial Hospital. The department is equipped with five modern linear accelerators, one cyberknife, CT simulation, and a high-dose rate brachytherapy unit to provide radiation treatment for children with cancer. Dr. Joseph Panoff specializes in pediatric radiation oncology and works closely with the MCH pediatric oncologists for treatment planning.
Our radiation therapy services are conducted by radiation oncologists, medical physicists, board-certified radiation therapists, medical dosimetrists and other highly trained support staff.
